Inner Light Consciousness Meditation

 Background

There are many reasons why people meditate, and there are also many forms of meditation.  For some, meditation is a personal time taken just for yourself to reduce stress and tension, to let go of the troubles of the world and just "recharge your batteries" for a while.  For others, a more spiritual experience is desired, one where the person's mind can expand and rise into the higher dimensions to awaken the inner senses and strive for spiritual enlightenment.

But how one approaches meditation will often have more to do with the results than any other single factor.  There is no single meditation technique that is universally the "best" for everyone.  Focusing on an object (e.g., candle flame, dot on the wall, etc.) may be quite enough for some who are looking for stress reduction.  Others may listen to relaxing music or mantras (e.g., OMs, chants, nature sounds, etc.) and have a completely relaxing experience.  Sometimes certain yoga postures may be used to help focus the energy of the breath through different parts of the body.

However, the single most frustrating factor in practicing any particular meditation technique is learning how to allow the mind to relax completely and become open to the energies of the higher dimensions.  "Mind chatter," random thoughts that break the concentration or mood you are striving for, often get in the way of a pleasant and productive meditation experience.

The Inner Light Consciousness (ILC) Meditation, originally developed by the late Rev. Paul Solomon of Virginia Beach, VA., has been carefully crafted to avoid the frustration of "mind chatter."  It does this by specifically unleashing the limitless creative potential of the mind to enrich the meditation experience.  Instead of trying to quiet the mind and empty it of all thoughts, the power of the imaginative, creative mind is enlisted to guide the meditator through a rich, empowering, and illuminating visualization which awakens the inner senses and reaffirms to the conscious mind our true spiritual nature as unlimited citizens of our universe.

Rev. Solomon also identified seven essential steps for meditation which allow your consciousness to evolve toward higher spiritual growth.  These seven steps are all included in the ILC Meditation as colored "Gardens" which relate to each chakra, and through which you pass as you rise higher in consciousness during the meditation.  They are designed to change your life by letting you discover the spiritual Source of your consciousness and establishing a personal relationship with that Source.  Each step is characterized by a specific type of Garden, a predominant color, and a theme or affirmation that is to be used in each Garden.  These are:

Step 1.  Garden of Expectancy.  (Root chakra)  Color - Red. "I will be changed by this experience."

Step 2.  Garden of Transformation.  (Sacral chakra)  Color - Orange. "I die daily to what I was yesterday, and open now to what I can become."

Step 3.  Garden of New Birth, Expansiveness and Joy.  (Solar Plexus Chakra)  Color - Yellow. "I look forward to my new life and what lies ahead."

Step 4.  Garden of The Companion.  (Heart chakra)  Color - Forest Green.  "I simply want to know You better."

Step 5.  Garden of Communion.  (Throat chakra)  Color - Deep Sky Blue. "My Companion and I are one."

Step 6.  Garden of Responsibility.  (Brow chakra)  Color - Violet.  "I accept the responsibility to use my talents and abilities wisely."

Step 7.  Garden of Enlightenment.  (Crown chakra)  Color - White.  "I ask to be made ready to enter Thy sacred Temple and to approach Thy sacred altar."

As a part of the meditation instruction provided by the Evergreen Healing Arts Center, a CD is provided to each person taking the meditation class.  This CD is to be played to guide you through your daily meditation.  After a period of time, a second meditation is provided on the same CD and gives specific instructions on how to take the entire meditation process to even higher levels.

ILC Meditation Goals

The specific goals of the ILC Meditation process are to:

The ILC Sequence

This guided visualization begins with the relaxation of the physical body into a very safe place.  It is important for the conscious mind to relax, and it cannot relax if it must continue to be concerned in any way for the physical well-being and safety of your body.  You want to take your consciousness or awareness into a state where the physical body can be safely left behind without worry or concern.  This releases and frees the mind from its analytical (conscious) role and lets it expand and travel to the higher dimensions where all things are possible.  The meditation tape or CD will guide you through the experiences discussed below.  Each place holds a deep symbolic meaning for the subconscious mind.

The Point Of Perfect Balance. The Point of Perfect Balance is that place of safety that you feel within yourself when you know all is well physically. Your body is resting safely and comfortably in a chair, and there are no disturbing sounds, sights, smells or feelings anywhere in this relaxing space.  When you’re ready, just step from your Point of Perfect Balance in your physical body to the Point of Perfect Balance in your meadow.  See yourself standing in your meadow now, safe and secure in the knowledge that all is still right with your world.

The Meadow.  The ILC Meditation always begins and ends in your own personal, private meadow. This is the most important place in your entire meditation journey; it is where you learn to expand your inner senses to become aware of the higher dimensions and planes of existence that surround us all .  It is here that you develop your natural inner abilities so you can see with your inner eyes, hear with your inner ears and sense with your inner knowing all the vibrations and patterns in the higher dimensions of your true spiritual being.

As you walk through your meadow, you will come to a cornfield.  The cornfield is the metaphorical symbol for the abundance of all that life has to offer. And there is no reason to hesitate in taking everything offered by life.  The truth is that you deserve anything that you can take from life so long as it does not harm someone else or their opportunities.  So, forget about whether you deserve it, whether you have a right to ask for it, or whether you really need it.  You have a right to ask for anything!  All of life’s abundance is right here in your cornfield, available for the taking any time you wish.

There is also a cool, mountain stream running through your meadow.  And as your eyes follow the flowing waters, you'll see a bridge crossing over the stream.  As you cross over the bridge, you'll see a pathway that leads to a tall mountain in the distance. It's a very tall mountain with several colored garden terraces up its side, but the top of the mountain is hidden from view.

Climbing The Mountain.  The climb along the pathway through the colored gardens (red, orange, yellow, ... white) up the mountainside is symbolic of the journey through the energies of each of your own chakras.  And when you reach your White Garden, your consciousness will have been elevated to the higher state of awareness required to experience the higher dimensions of your being.  It is here that you can further purify and cleanse yourself in preparation for entering your Temple, your sanctum sanctorum within.

The Temple Within.  When you enter your Temple, the first thing you will see is the eternal violet flame of purification which burns forever in your inner Temple.  Step into it, and everything within you that is still not yet purified will be transmuted to a lump of gold.  This symbology recognizes that we really are intrinsically strong and pure within the core of our being, but sometimes we forget and believe we are unworthy sinners.  This final purification and transmutation sequence ensures that we walk into our Temple standing tall and confident, yet humble and compassionate.  As you look around in your inner Temple, you will find four rooms: your Healing Room, Hall Of Records, Learning Room and Meditation Room.  You will visit each room and become familiar with its contents during your 40-day journey, but no real work will be done in them until after your 40-day preparation period.

The Healing Room.  Here you will meet Archangel Raphael, the Archangel of healing, balance and harmony.  Also in your Healing Room you will see a healing window on the far wall and a healing table in the center of the room.  After your 40-day journey, you will learn how to use these tools for both your own healing on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels, and, with their permission, for the healing of others.

The Hall Of Records.  As you walk in and greet your Recordkeeper, you will become aware of the seemingly infinite number of records here that are available to read.  You may see each record as a book to read, a video to play on a screen, a computer file to be scanned, or another form that is familiar to you.  However, each one contains the Akashic Record of an individual soul while on this earth plane.  Your Hall of Records contains the Akashic Records of all souls, and these records are available for you to read under the proper circumstances.  You will learn how to do so after your 40-day journey has been completed without missing a day.

The Learning Room.  Here you will meet your Instructor, who has access to all information in the Universe which may not be contained in the personal or group Akashic Records in the Hall Of Record.  While in an altered state, each of us can learn how to access to this knowledge upon request, and if you ask, your Instructor will provide the answers if that information is in your highest and best good at that time.

The Meditation Room.  This room contains only a comfortable chair in the middle of a peaceful, dimly-lit room.  Here you can relax in the peace and safety of your "Sanctum Sanctorum," your own inner Holy of Holies, and allow your awareness to expand, your inner vibrations to heighten, and your consciousness to become aware of the higher planes of existence that surround us all.  Your journey up your mountain and into your inner Temple has prepared you for this "meditation within a meditation" where you can simply pause the tape or CD for a while and experience your own connection to these higher realms of reality and all the loving compassion that the Universe holds for you personally.  And when you are done meditating, you may restart the tape or CD and continue your journey back down the mountain.

Descending The Mountain.   As you descend your spiritual mountain, you will bring with you all the memories and energies of the White Garden into the Violet Garden and merge these energies.  Then you will bring these merged energies down into the Blue Garden and merge them once again.  In a similar fashion, you will blend and merge all the energies of each chakra garden with all the others, balancing and harmonizing each chakra as you descend.  This is a very important process and brings back into your physical awareness the memories and higher energies of your spiritual meditation journey and experiences within your Temple.

Returning To Your Meadow.   As you cross your bridge and return to your meadow, you will again sense the vitality and energy of all life in your meadow and, when you are ready, gently step back into your Point of Perfect Balance within yourself.  You will bring with you all the insights and knowledge of your meditation experience, as well as the healing energies of balance, renewal and regeneration.

The Inner Light Consciousness Meditation workshop provides a detailed description of the sequence and symbology contained in the guided visualization described above.  Then your homework will be to actually begin your 40-day Journey during which you will daily follow the guided visualization provided to you.  Upon satisfactory completion of the 40-day Journey you will be properly prepared to begin using the tools provided during the guided visualization.

When you have followed the above meditation sequence for forty days and have not gone to sleep during the meditation (meditation is a conscious activity; sleep is not), you will have properly prepared yourself to put into practice the steps for achieving the above-stated goals for the ILC Meditation.  At this point, you may continue with a modified ILC Meditation which will teach you specifically how to use these tools for yourself or, with permission, in the aid of someone else.

ILC Meditation Free Digital Download Files

The five files that support the ILC Meditation are contained in a single folder (about 16 MB) which is located ‘in the cloud’ on my Dropbox account.  First, create a folder named “ILC Meditation” on your desktop.  Second, simply CLICK HERE to go to my Dropbox folder and view the five files.  Third, download each of the five files to your desktop and then move them to your “ILC Meditation” folder.  The five individual files are listed below.  If you have the file extensions enabled, you will be able to easily which are document files and which are audio files.  The audio files should play directly on any modern computer or mp3 player, as well as many newer CD players, or you may elect to burn the mp3 audio files to separate CDs using a CD-burning application of your choice.  The document text files are saved as rtf files (Rich Text Format), and are able to be opened and printed by most word processors such as Microsoft Word, Open Office's Write, WordPerfect, etc.

The five files are:

1.      A document file,  "1 - readmeFIRST.rtf" that provides instructions on how to practice your Inner Light Consciousness (ILC) Meditation.  Print this out now and read it FIRST!

2.      A document file called "2 - ILC 40-Day Journey.rtf".  Print this out and read it before actually playing the "4 - ILC 40-Day Journey.mp3" audio file.

3.   A document file called "3 - ILC Instructions.rtf".  DO NOT PRINT THIS OUT until AFTER you have meditated for 40 consecutive days using the "4 - ILC 40-Day Journey.mp3" audio file.  It is important to lay a solid foundation first with your initial 40-Day Journey before you start working in each of the four rooms of your Temple.

4.      An audio file called "4 - ILC 40-Day Journey.mp3".  This is the guided meditation file for your initial 40-Day Journey, and lasts about 33 minutes.

5.      An audio file called "5 - ILC Meditation.mp3".  This is a guided meditation you may play each day AFTER you have completed the initial 40-Day Journey.  This guided meditation is a condensed version of the 40-Day Journey and lasts about 16 minutes.

The ILC 40-Day Journey

To begin working with the ILC Meditation, select a time and place that you can comfortably set aside for meditating each day, either in the morning or in the evening as you prefer.  Prepare yourself by breathing deeply and slowly several times and let your body and mind become comfortable and relaxed as you prepare for your meditation session.  When you are ready to begin your meditation, select and play the file "4 - ILC 40-Day Journey" on your computer, mp3 player or CD player (if you have burned the files to a CD), and close your eyes.  Follow the words and images given to you and really get into the feeling of each image as you journey through your meadow and up your spiritual mountain to your own Sanctum Sanctorum, your Temple Within.  The 40-Day Journey meditation is about 33 minutes long.

You must use the "4 - ILC 40-Day Journey.mp3" at least once each day for at least 40 consecutive days to fully "program" your subconscious mind for the life-enhancing changes and transformations that will soon become apparent in your daily life. If you miss a day, or if you drift off to sleep while listening to the CD, you must start all over from day number one and complete your 40-Day Journey while awake.  Meditation is a conscious activity; sleep is not!  For this meditation to be effective, you must make the commitment to take the time and make the effort to complete the full 40 days while awake.

After Completing 40 Consecutive Days
When you have successfully completed at least 40 consecutive days' meditation using the file "4 - ILC 40-Day Journey.mp3", you are ready to begin using the tools that you were introduced to during your 40-day preparation.  Now, you may print out the "3 - ILC Instructions.rtf" file.  It contains the instructions that you will need to use the tools in each of the four Temple rooms.

For all subsequent meditation sessions, you may now use the second audio file, "5 - ILC Meditation.mp3".  This file contains the shortened version of the initial 40-Day Journey (about 16 minutes); this meditation allows additional time to be spent in one of your Temple rooms to do more extensive healing, past life review, information gathering, or deep transcendental meditation.
